“Hot Glue creates heartfelt songs soaked in gritty guitar that voice reinvention and release, the band will double the size of your heart.
Melbourne indie-rock band Hot Glue is made up of siblings Lily and Pearl Harnath, with Henry Lucas on drums. The band pulses with punchy beats, high energy guitars and soaring melodic harmonies. Their songs speak to the experiences of young adulthood, using music and sound to voice frustrations and release.
Hot Glue released their EP ‘The City’ in 2018, an explosive post-high school debut into the Melbourne music scene with energetic single ‘Tuesday’ and slow-burner ballad ‘Run’, described as “angsty but packaged up in a rollicking, beautiful shell” (Declan Byrne, Triple J). Since then, the band has continued performing and releasing music, with double single ‘Way Out/Paranoid’ released in 2019, and the howling live favourite ‘Final Girl’ in 2022.
2023 saw the release of ‘Hatchet’, the band’s debut album that "infuses the ride-or-die intensity of adolescent relationships into an addictive set of edgy-yet-syncable songs” (Beat Mag). Singles ‘The Knife’ and ‘Honey’ saw repeat radio play on local and community radio (Triple J, RRR, PBSFM, SYN), while the band’s first official music video ‘Roadkill’ (dir. Jack Pardy) was featured as a ‘Wild One’ on ABC Rage.
Citing influences including Big Thief, boygenius, Middle Kids and The Breeders, the band has a “style that's intrinsically earnest” (Beat Mag). Having played alongside a myriad of local acts including Body Type, Bad Bangs, and Jess Ribeiro, Hot Glue continues to impress at live and local shows in Melbourne/Naarm.
