WILSN live at Lefty’s Music Hall
Thursday 30 April

With a contemporary edge and undeniable raw power, WILSN creates classic soul music that feels timeless while firmly rooted in the present. A true vocal powerhouse, her performances are rich with emotion, storytelling and the kind of intensity that defines great soul records.

“I’ve been captivated by soul music since I was a kid, the emotion, the power and the stories in every note,” says WILSN. “I always try to make music that reflects my own truth while paying tribute to the voices who came before me, like Aretha Franklin, Etta James and Gladys Knight.”

Originally from Geelong, Victoria, WILSN moved to Melbourne to study jazz at the Victorian College of the Arts before immersing herself in the city’s music scene. A deal with US publisher Pulse soon followed, prompting a move to America where she spent two years working with Grammy Award winning songwriters. In 2020, she joined The Teskey Brothers on their sold-out European and UK tour, performing to packed rooms across the continent.

Since the release of her debut album Those Days Are Over in 2023, WILSN has gone from strength to strength. The album, blending modern soul, pop, jazz and Motown, won the AIR Award for Best Independent Soul R&B Album or EP and was nominated for the Australian Music Prize. She has shared stages with Jimmy Barnes and Budjerah, supported artists like Allen Stone, played Bluesfest two years in a row and again toured nationally with The Teskey Brothers. As a songwriter, she also won the 2025 Vanda and Young Global Song Competition for Give You Love, co-written for Jessica Mauboy and Jason Derulo.

Her latest album Bloom, released through Mushroom Music, was recorded in Brooklyn, NYC with an ensemble of legendary New York soul musicians, including players associated with Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, Thee Sacred Souls, Charles Bradley and Jalen Ngonda. The album debuted in the ARIA Top 40 and at number 7 on the Australian Albums Chart, earning support from Rolling Stone, BBC Radio, triple j, Double J, ABC and major Spotify and Apple Music playlists.

Bloom confirms WILSN as one of the most exciting and essential voices in the new generation of Australian soul.
