Cath Styles in SHIFT
Golden Gate Hotel (South Melbourne, VIC)
Sunday, 19 April 2026 6:15 pm
Cath Styles has been a psychiatric nurse for 36 years, and a comedian for 20.
Between her two jobs, she's never had a weekend off. EVER!
'Shift' is the show where both her worlds collide, and explores her on again, off again, love affair with nursing - the highs, the lows, the shifts!
The dark, beautiful, sad, and sometimes, just plain hilarious side of helping people who are trying to hold on to their sanity, while desperately trying to keep a grip on your own!
No stranger to finding the funny in the darkness, Cath blends stand-up and storytelling to tell touching, (and twisted!) tales of her enduring 36 year fling with psych nursing.
Flavoured with the black humour of those who work on the front-line at stupid o'clock, it explores the craziness of a way of life where strange is normal, and normal is strange, and dispels many popular myths about psychiatry, such as 'mental illness only happens to other people', and 'all the hot doctors work in the ED'.
A must see for nurses, patients, and everyone in between, 'Shift' is a refreshingly positive look at mental health from someone with the heart of a nurse, and words of a comic, with tips on how to love your job - even when it doesn't love you!
Doors: 5:45pm
Show: 6:15pm
Recommended for ages 15+
Under 18s must be accompanied by a parent/guardian
