This is Pegasus. The new album from legendary Melbourne act, Sex on Toast. After 20 years in the game, Sex on Toast have reached icon status. With an enviable back catalogue that covers a gamut of musical styles, SOT have delivered a luscious, energetic, moody new album that takes the listener on an unforgettable sonic journey. 3 years in the making, we emerge with SOT’s most ambitious work yet. Drawing from an array influences such as theatrical rock, film soundtracks and motown, Pegasus tells a story in two parts that is part fantasy, part reality. It’s a Hollywood dream with luscious orchestration. It’s rock ’roll bombast. It’s a romantic ballad of hope and despair. Sex on Toast’s new album is an epic feast. With a large portion of Pegasus composed in Los Angeles in 2020, and recorded slowly but surely in Melbourne between 2021-2023, the record features more than 36 credited musicians. They’re anywhere from Aus jazz legend Barney McAll, cult comedy hero Neil Hamburger, the cream of the crop of Australia’s jazz and classical world and the cast of regulars and veterans you’d expect from a SOT release.
